Our Standards

Organic

Organic Cotton is grown using methods and materials that have a low impact on the environment. Organic production systems replenish and maintain soil fertility, growing crops that aren't treated with pesticides, insecticides, herbicides and Genetically Modified Organisms. These toxins are harmful for farmers and workers, us as consumers, and entire wildlife eco-systems.

The clothing in our store will range from organic up to GOTS or OEKO-TEX certified. See below for more information on these certifications.

Non-Toxic

Finishes on fabrics are one of the most significant sources of toxins in clothing. These chemicals are placed directly against your child’s skin. Each time that clothing treated with finishes is put into the laundry, the toxins are released into the water, which then contaminates the environment, fish and wildlife that consumes the water.

We avoid items that are:
• Wrinkle-free
• Shrinkage-free
• Flame-resistant
• Stain-resistant
• Waterproof

Sustainable

The methodology of organic fiber agriculture, like that of organic food, builds and protects our earth’s ecosystems, and benefits consumers, farmers, and manufacturing workers. It also supports practices to reduce climate change. Certified organic cotton is grown GMO-free, is never treated with fungicides, synthetic pesticides, or fertilizers, and uses 71% percent less water and 62% percent less energy than conventionally produced cotton. Conventional cotton represents less than 3 percent of the world’s agriculture, yet accounts for 25 percent of the most harmful insecticides and 10 percent of the most toxic pesticides used on the planet.

Not only are organic fabrics better for your body, when grown organically cotton conserves land biodiversity.

GOTS Certified

The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the worldwide leading textile processing standard for organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, backed up by independent third-party certification of the entire textile supply chain.
